A loan helped to buy another dairy cow to improve her milk vending business.

Edna's story

Meet Edna (44 years old and a mom of four school-going children). As a humble mom, Edna encountered many setbacks before she realized that nature had blessed her with a good climate for crop and dairy farming. Therefore, she made the decision to take on farming instead of looking for a white-collar job.

Starting a farm was the best decision she has ever made in her entire life. Edna has been in the business of mixed farming for many years. Milk and crops are her main sources of income. While she loves dairy farming the most, her greatest challenge is the lack of enough capital to feed her livestock.

She is borrowing money to buy another dairy cow. In addition to a loan, she is also receiving Juhudi Kilimo training, which will help her develop a savings culture. This loan will be of benefit to Edna’s family such that they will have more milk for consumption and sale, so their living standards will improve.
