A loan helped to purchase more red oil, dried coconuts, plantain, eddoes and banana to sell.

Bendu's story

Meet 40-year-old Bendu, from Liberia. She is a married mother with 3 children. Bendu never had the opportunity to attend school.

She is a hardworking business woman who sells red oil, dried coconuts, plantain, eddoes and banana. She learned how to sell from her aunty. She sells Monday through to Saturday from 7:30 am up to 6:40 pm. She uses a car to transport supplies at her business site. She has had these businesses for 8 years.

She has requested this loan from Brac and KIVA Field Partner to purchase more red oil, dried coconuts, plantain, eddoes and banana to sell and grow her business.

She likes her business because it provides her family with daily meals. Her dreams for the future are to improve her business and build a house. Bendu wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
