A loan helped to purchase more T-shirts, trousers and underwear to sell.

Mamie's story

Meet 46-year-old Mamie from Liberia. She is a widow with 4 children. Mamie describes herself as a hardworking business woman, who for the past 9 years has been operating her business selling used clothes such as T-shirts, trousers and underwear. Mamie's oldest sister taught her how to sell. Mamie started the business with her own savings and has no issues with her business.

Mamie requested this loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner, to purchase more T-shirts, trousers and underwear to sell and grow her business. She likes her business because it provides her children with their basic needs.

In the future, Mamie wants to own a store. She says thanks and appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
