A loan of $725 helped to buy bags of fertilizer.

Bertha's story

Bertha is 39 years old, married, and has 5 school-age children. They live together in the community of Santa Rosa, located in the tropical Peruvian rainforest, where they have their own home made of adobe. Bertha has not been discouraged by the fact that she did not finish her studies. Rather, this motivated her to gather her strength and will as a fighting woman, in order to face any obstacles that she encounters. As a result of her constant efforts, she has been able to develop a business that has good economic results. She grows and sells cocoa, and her customers feel satisfied with the quality of her product. She wants to continue working in agriculture, as she feels happy with the work she is doing. She receives help from her children during the planting and harvesting seasons, and she always works with her beloved husband. They both work from 7:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the evening, and they make their sales for a fair price at the local gathering center.

Her future plan is to diversify her products by growing coffee and citrus fruits, and in this way, to increase her income. This is her third loan with Microfinanzas Prisma, and she assures that she will comply faithfully with her repayment obligations. She also feels strengthened by her communal bank because they all work as a team. With the loan she is requesting, she plans to invest in the purchase of supplies and fertilizers, with the goal of adequately caring for her cocoa fields.
