A loan of $1,200 helped purchase feeding troughs to feed cattle.

Josefina's story

Josefina S. R. is single and is 49 years old. She lives in the Esquilan Chico zone, 10km from Cochabamba city, in an agricultural zone on the periphery of the city.

Josefina has 5 head of dairy cattle who produce raw milk which is commercialised in the Industrial Milk Plant (PIL). Josefina is single but looks after her niece. They live alone and don't have very good living conditions - their walls are made from corrugated iron which has to withstand the inclemencies of the weather, cold, rain and heat. Her cattle have a thatched roof to protect them. Under these conditions Josefina manages to look after her niece, who is studying at school. Josefina's wishes are that her niece studies veterinary science and that together they can improve their quality of life, her home, and her earnings.

Josefina is seeking a loan to build feeding troughs for her cattle so she can optimise their feeding and increase her earnings. By constructing feeding troughs she will avoid them getting sick, and apart from preventing her throwing away the food they eat, she would be saving and investing in something very productive that will be fruitful for her.
