A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which this widowed mother will use to improve her production and earn more income to support her family.

Rosa's story

Rosa, widowed, is 46 years old and has three school-going children. She lives with her children in Kapcherop, one of the most amazing places that Mother Nature has created.

Rosa has been a mixed dairy and crop farmer for the past few years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Rosa is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production and earn more income to support her family.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Rosa is hopeful that Kiva lenders are able and willing to respond positively to her loan request.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
