A loan of $375 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Lucila's story

Lucila is a hard-working 46 year old woman. She is married to Donato, 49, and they have 4 children, though only one still lives with them in the home they own. Lucila knows that her work taking care of her crops is crucial to a good harvest, and so every morning she is happy to head for the fields to take care of her coffee, bananas and avocados, thinking that her efforts will be rewarded. She has spent 25 years working the land with her husband, and each of them has their own special methods for getting good results. What Lucila likes most about farming is harvesting the coffee beans. Although it is difficult to get the crop to market in the city and to have it stored, she considers it a very profitable business. It fetches a good price at the market. Lucila is therefore planning to buy additional land where she can increase her coffee production.

This is her third loan with [field partner] MFP, and she can see the economic progress she has made already. She will continue to make her repayments responsibly because she wants to continue accessing credit to help her bsiness grow - and because she enjoys being part of this communal bank. With the loan she is seeking, Lucila will buy sacks of organic fertilizer to spread on her crops and increase productivity.
