A loan helped to buy more charcoal and provisions to sell.

Josephine's story

This is Josephine, age 45. She is married and has one child who is 20 and lives at home while attending school. Josephine attended school up to 9th grade.

Josephine owns a business selling charcoal and provisions. Her cousin taught her how to sell. Her husband gave her some funds to start the business. She has been operating her sales for five years now. She likes her business because it provides her profits for each day she sells.

Josephine requested a loan through BRAC Liberia and field partner Kiva. The loan will be used to buy more charcoal and provisions to sell in order to repay her loan installment.

Her future plan is to continue her child’s education. She appreciates BRAC and Kiva for their financial support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
