A loan of $4,450 helps a member to stock up on sugar cane to sell.

Tudumu Group's story

Ms. Jeannette is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and presides over the village group named “TUDUMU”; she is a widow, 54 years old, and the mother of nine children, all provided with schooling.

A vendor of sugar cane, she started this enterprise fifteen years ago with startup funding from her mother. Later on, she got involved in the Hekima program to support her enterprise. She has since been working progressively in it.

With this new loan, she will stock up on sugar cane to bolster her initial capital. The challenge in her business has to do poor roads for transporting goods.

She would like to renovate her house and for her children to continue their studies. So she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for supporting business owners lacking cash during this global crisis linked to COVID-19. The photo shows only the group leader because of COVID-19, so as to respect social distancing measures.

In this group: Jeannette, Jeannette, Yvette, Rosette, Gisele, Cecile, Esperance, Yvette, Marlaine, Jeanne, Marc, Alphosine, Collette, Florance, Bertine, Judith, Denise, Pichuna, Chandele
