A loan of $1,075 helped to buy bags of fertilizer to improve the production of plantains and coffee.

Felicia's story

Felicia is a charismatic 59 year old woman. She is married to Felipe, who is 69. They have two grown children who work independently and live in the city of Lima, so the couple lives alone in their own home. For 37 years, she has grown coffee, plantains, tangerines and annato on the land that she owns. Her husband helps her with the work, but when it requires more effort and time, she hires laborers. What she likes the most is living in the country, enjoying the country and the tranquility it brings, and feeling nature. On the other hand, having to transport her harvest to the city is difficult for her because of the distance, but she assures us that it is worth it because the earnings she makes are considerable and they allow her to cover her basic neccessities. Now that coffee is at S/. 8.00 soles a kilo, she want to increase her production of that product that is very much in demand in the makets and stockpiling centers. This is her sixth loan with MFP and she is sure that she will make her payments on time as she has so far. She is also happy to work with the people in her community group, whom she appreciates. With the loan, she will buy various bags of organic fertilizer, which she will spread on her coffee and plantain plantings.
