A loan helped to buy buffalo breeds to raise and sell.

Yupin's story

Yupin is a local married woman. She lives with her husband, both of her children, and grandchild in a rural community of Surin Province in Northeast Thailand. At present, Yupin and her husband are cultivating a jasmine rice farm for a living and raising buffalo as a secondary job. However, her children have to go to work in factories to cover all the expenses.

Yupin learned and was inspired by her parents, since she was young, about the animal sales business. She has got an idea about selling buffaloes to the cattle market in the area, one of the massive markets in Northeast Thailand. She was looking for a loan to improve her animal sales business. Then, she finally got an opportunity to apply for a Kiva loan to purchase two buffaloes to raise and sell.

The loan is very important to allow her to afford necessities for her occupation, and this will also support local entrepreneurs. From now, Yupin wants to help out her family more than before and make their lifes get better.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
