A loan of $3,850 helped a member to pay school fees for his children.

Mohamed S.'s Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a Kiva partner in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is pleased to present to you the teachers of the Kulafai Rashideen Primary School in Waterloo small town, where “Shine on Sierra Leone” partnered with SMT to start a branch. This school was founded in September 1996. It is staffed with thirteen teachers and 363 pupils.

These hardworking and dedicated teachers have come to SMT to seek an SLL 15,100,000 loan. With the help of this loan, these teachers will be able to embark on some meaningful projects that their mere salaries alone can’t support. Some of them will use the loan to buy pieces of furniture, others to buy house-building materials or a piece of land, pay school fees for their children, or invest the loan in their business.

Mohamed S. B. is the leader of this group of teachers. He is age forty-nine, is married to a businesswoman, and they have six children. Mr. B. will use his share of the loan to pay school fees for his children.

In this group: Mohamed S., Abdul M., James B., Kadiatu , Mohamed S. , Daniel A, Abdulai, Marion B., Abdul A., Rugiatu A., Sahid B., Amin S.*, Gibilla
