A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as quality seeds and organic fertilizers to help improve her crop production.

Janeth's story

Janeth, 39, is a strong-minded woman living on her farm in a humble village near Kericho, Kenya. Janeth is blessed with 5 beautiful children and works hard to ensure they have a decent lifestyle. Janeth is a crop farmer, although she also rears dairy cows.

Janeth’s desire to achieve and her ability to engage in risky agricultural ventures has propelled her to become the successful woman that she is today. Despite all the difficult hurdles in her life, she still finds the courage to move forward and meet the basic needs of her family.

Kericho has favorable weather conditions that benefit maize farmers. However, the biggest challenge for farmers, especially in Kericho, is the high cost of farming inputs. Most farmers are forced to use organic farming methods, and over time, the fertility of the soil is lost. Janeth is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as quality seeds and fertilizers to help improve her crop production and, through increased profits, assure her children of a secure future.

Janeth has a great desire to succeed. She hopes Kiva lenders listen to her request and help her better her life. She thanks her lenders for their generous support.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
