Verónica Mercedes C. F. is 26 years old, in a common law marriage, and lives with her children and companion in Ventanas, which is in the province of Los Ríos. The names of her three children are Darling (age 10), Andy (age 9), and Erick (age 5).

Verónica is a member of the Communal Bank “Valle Alto” (High Valley), which is located in the district of Voluntad de Dios and an hour and a half away from Ventanas. There are 23 members in total, most of whom engage in agriculture. This is the second loan they have received from Cooperativa San José.

Verónica is a farmer who grows rice and beans. She buys her supplies each month in the city of Ventanas and sells her products at the Peña commercial market which is in the same area.

The loan she is requesting will be invested in the purchase of seeds for planting rice and beans. She views this loan as an opportunity to get ahead. Her dreams include buying a car and opening a business in Ventanas. The challenges she faces include the pests and diseases that can impact her crops.
