A loan helped to buy more agricultural inputs to sell to smallholder farmers in her community.

Maria's story

Maria is a 65-year-old Mozambican woman from Vanduzi, Manica province. She lives with her husband and their three children.

Maria is a very hardworking woman. She has worked in agriculture since she was young, and thanks to this activity, she was able to feed her children and send them to school.

Maria specializes in veggies production; her main crop is potatoes. She also buys potatoes and other veggies from other local smallholder farmers in order to supply to a fixed market.

Additionally, she provides some services in her community, such as inputs sales and rental of a tractor per hour. She has a small shop where she sells a variety of veggies, as well as agricultural inputs.

Considering the next season of production, Maria needs to supply high-quality inputs for her clients. For this reason, she is requesting a Kiva loan to buy more agricultural inputs to sell to smallholder farmers in her community.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers access to new markets and agricultural resources.
