A loan helped to buy bales of dried kava roots to be pounded into kava beverage powder.

Vilisi's story

Vilisi resides in a small village in Serua Province. She started off with farming, but due to COVID-19 movement restrictions, she cannot cross the government-mandated containment border to sell her root crops and vegetables at the city market where there is higher demand compared to the nearby town market. She has temporarily shifted to another business--buying bales of dried kava roots from kava farmers and pounding them into kava beverage powder. Considering the current situation she believes selling kava in smaller quantities in her village will be a temporary source of income for her family until the COVID-19 travel restrictions are lifted.
