Foo-Mar. Group's story

Mary G., who is holding the sign, is the leader of this group of five borrowers called 'Foo-Mar'. Mary is 48 years old, widowed, and has four children who range from 9 to 30 years old. She was not privileged to attend school due to poverty. She cares for 10 grandchildren.

For 18 years, she has been selling 'fufu', (a kind of local food produced from cassava) in Redlight Market, on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia. She plans to use her 10,000 Liberian Dollar portion of this 38,000 Liberian Dollar group loan to buy more bags of cassava for 'fufu'.

She describes herself as a jovial woman. Her goal is to improve her business and build a house.
