Bendiya 2 Group's story

The ten members of the group BENDIYA 2 are married women with an average age of 34. They all have 3 children on average and most live in polygamous families in Moosibougou, one of the villages in the commune of Loulouni in the Sikasso Region of southern Mali.

They collaborate with the Microfinance insitution Soro Yiriwaso in order to successfully carry out their agricultural activities during winter. This is their second loan with the institution, with the first being duly repaid.

Diatou C., who is one of the members of the group, specialises in the cultivation of bambara groundnut.

With her loan, she intends to buy agricultural products and equipment to cultivate 2 hectares.

After the harvest, the produce is sold at the market of Louloni to male clientele.

She hopes to make an average profit of 120 000 FCFA each season.

Her profits will enable her to repay her loan and also to assist with the daily family expenses.
