A loan helped a member to purchase vegetables to resell.

Book Diom 2 Sikilo Group's story

Madame Gnilane, the president of the group "Book Diom 2 Sikilo" (united), is a 48-year-old businesswoman who sells vegetables. She is married and the mother of 4 children aged between 5 and 16. Three of her children are in school. Her husband works as a farmer.

She gets her supplies from wholesalers at the large market in the area. To sell her merchandise, she has a well-appointed table outside of the front door of her house.

Madame Gnilane dreams of becoming a vegetable supplier for the resellers in her village. Like the other members in her group, she uses loans to purchase more merchandise and increase her revenue.

With this loan, she plans to purchase bags of fresh vegetables (onions, cabbage, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, etc.), two bottles of oil, and cooking broths.

What she likes most about this business is being able to cover all of her needs with the profits earned, and therefore also help her children with their schooling. With her monthly profits she is able to help her husband cover family needs, including school fees, food, etc.

This loan allows her to have more income to reach her goals for the future. Her main challenge is storage because she sells perishable items.
