A loan helped to purchase farm inputs to boost her yields and improve her sales to earn enough money to educate her children.

Christine's story

Christine is 34 years old and has four children. She resides in Kitale, a land of seemingly never-ending beauty. She has passed through many ups and downs in her life and she always keeps her head high. She is not deterred by the difficult life situations that she has been through.

The Kitale area is favorable for farming, so she is seeking a 20,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo to purchase farm inputs (fertilizer and seed) to boost her yields and improve her sales to earn enough money to educate her children.

Being a rural mom and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Kitale, is very challenging. However, Christine feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her living conditions.

Her biggest dream is to become independent and support her aging parents, secure her children's future, and buy a home. Kindly lend to this hardworking mom!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
