A loan of $725 helped purchasing corrugated iron and cement to improve her kitchen’s infrastructure.

Ines's story

Inés is 38 years old and is a very hard-working mother. She lives with her husband and their 3 children in their own house. For 3 years she has made a living preparing food. Among the meals she sells are: seco a la huachana [beef stew flavored with cilantro], ají de gallina [chicken with a special sauce], arroz con pollo [rice with chicken], tallarín verde [green noodles], and salsa de carne [meat with a special sauce], all of which are traditional Peruvian dishes. Inés prepares the meals in her home and then delivers them to various places near where she lives. Her customers are the merchants of the market who work in front of her house, along with people who pass through the neighborhood. In the beginning her job was very exhausting, but now she has help from another person whom she pays every day. Inés is pleased with the work she does, and it is profitable. In the future she wants to expand her business and improve her house’s infrastructure. This is Inés’s sixteenth loan with Kiva partner MFP, and she knows that it will be very helpful for increasing her business’s capital. She promises to make all of her payments on time. Inés plans to use the loan she is requesting to purchase corrugated iron and cement, which she will use to replace the roof over her kitchen, and thus avoid being affected by the winter season.
