A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and fertilizers to improve this single mom's crop harvest production and her living conditions.

Mercy's story

This is Mercy, a single mother who has a captivating smile. Mercy is the true definition of a hard worker and a happy mother. She is a farmer in Kericho, an area endowed with natural streams. Mercy lives with her family and sustains them using the proceeds of her farming. She is the sole breadwinner. Mercy loves attending to activities such as spraying, irrigating, and harvesting her farm crops, as well as rearing her livestock.

Through selling her crop farm products, Mercy feels accomplished because she has access to many buyers in the market. However, improved farming inputs are now required for effective production, because agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic in recent times.

As an informed farmer, Mercy is borrowing from Juhudi Kilimo, via Kiva's lenders, to buy farm inputs such as certified fertilizers to improve her crop harvest production and eventually her living standards.

This loan will have a lasting effect in her heart.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
