A loan of $1,075 helped stock up on fuel.

Sonia's story

Sonia, who is 39, is a very straightforward and hardworking woman. She lives in her own house with her husband, Abel, who is 40, and their two beloved children, to whom she wants to offer a better education. In the town of Huayounioc, Sonia has a small stand where she sells fuel, which she supplies to the great majority of vehicles which pass by on the highway going to the tropical forest in the center of the country. Her stand is very busy, and in general she sells all the fuel she has. She has been in this business for 9 years, and it has given her sufficient earnings to feed her children and pay their school expenses, but she feels that the money she earns will not be sufficient to support the secondary school expenses of her older son. For this reason, she wants to set up a store where she can increase her income. She likes to chat with her customers, she likes doing it very much, but it is very difficult for her to remain at her business all day, since the odor of the fuel is very strong and she ends up feeling nauseated. Even so, this doesn't diminish her desire to move forward, and she is ready to work hard to achieve her goals.

This is her seventh loan with MFP, and she knows that she has to make all her payments on time and she is ready to do that, since she does not want to cause problems for the members of her community bank, in which she is very responsible. With the 3000 PEN that she is applying for, she will buy more fuel to generate more income.
