A loan of $1,550 helped a member to buy vegetables.

Fouladou Group's story

The FOULADOU solidarity group was created after the GADAPARA Banc Villageois was established 11 years ago. It is composed of 6 women who come from the same neighborhood. They are organized by neighborhood and kinship. Mrs. AWA B., standing at the right in the photo and dressed in white, is the leader of the solidarity group. She is 56 years old, married and the mother of 5 dependent children. She sells vegetables at the Kolda central market. She has operated this business for around 10 years. With her new loan, she is going to buy vegetables in larger quantites than usual so as to better satisfy her customers. Her goal is to help her husband provide for the family’s financial needs, such as the food and the children’s schooling.

In this group: Aïssatou , Mariama, Awa, Kara, Mouna, Fatou
