Linet Kemuma's story

Linet Kemuma N. is a 33-year-old enterprising lady and mother of three children who are 10, 7 and 4 years old. She is married to John Ongeri who operates a motorcycle transport business in the same town. She has been operating a green grocer business for the last nine years in Kehancha, a town located in the western part of Kenya along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Kemuma buys her stock from the nearby main markets and sells it in small quantities to her clientele who are mainly women within the Kehancha Administrative Centre. She is taking her fourth loan from Kadet Limited and intends to use it to buy cereals to sell. At the moment, she will buy maize and beans because they are in high demand.

Her dream is to own a cereal store and move from her current makeshift stall to a permanent premise. She hopes to get Kiva lenders to enable her achieve this dream.
