A loan helped a member to buy more grains, vegetables, and fruit.

Estrellas Del Cielo Group's story

Olga is a twenty-eight-year-old single woman who sells beans, corn, tomatoes, and bananas from her home in the department/state of Quiche. She has a sixth-grade education. Olga is smart and determined to succeed. She decided to join the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Estrellas del Cielo." She is very grateful to receive loan support. With a Kiva loan, Olga plans to buy more grains, vegetables, and fruit. She wants to keep her customers in the neighborhood well supplied and happy!

The five other Maya Poqomchi ladies in the group elected Olga to be their president! She calls the monthly meetings to order. The women make loan payments and participate in educational training sessions. They can use the information immediately in their own lives, with their families, and in their businesses. Topics such as health, nutrition, and hygiene are so important, especially during the pandemic, which is still raging in Guatemala. They also obtain essential business management tools. Olga recalls learning about the importance of savings and prioritizing expenses. Every other month, they have access to basic health care services. This essential combination of loans, education, and health care is called Microcredit Plus.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your kindness in funding these loans! Olga and her friends are poised to step into a brighter future!
