A loan helped to buy more charcoal, oil, rice, and onion to resell.

Sando's story

Sando is 27 years old and she lives with her partner and three children in Liberia. Two of her children attend school. Sando runs a retail business where she sells charcoal, oil, rice, and onion. She started her business after receiving some financial help from her mother. Her aunt taught her the nuances of the retail business, which Sondo has been managing for the past 12 years. To maintain her sales, she has requested for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a field partner of Kiva, to buy more charcoal, oil, rice, and onion to resell to her customers. She likes her business and is proud of it because it gives her fast profit and helps her support her family. Sando is thankful to the lenders.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
