Manassé Plus Group's story

Bibi B. is the leader of this community bank named “Manassé Plus” which is composed of thirteen micro-entrepreneurs united in solidarity to obtain loans from Kiva through HOPE DRC with the goal of developing their businesses.

Bibi sells salted fish in the eastern area of Kinshasa and has been in business since 1990. Her beginning capital was $30. Currently, through her sales, she makes about $70 per week. Bibi likes selling because it gives her the opportunity to make contacts with many different people, and once they become permanent clients she is able to offer them quality products at a better price.

Bibi plans to use this next loan to purchase seven bags of salted fish to resell in order to increase her income. She is a trustworthy client of HOPE DRC, having six times received and properly repaid loans.

Bibi is 53 years old, is married, and is the mother of two children whose ages are 9 and 14. Both attend school. She dreams one day of building a large business building for rent.
