A loan helped to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house.

Eng's story

Eng, age 44, is married and lives with her family in the area of Angkor Borey District, Takeo Province. She earns a living by planting and harvesting rice crops and selling her harvest to the local markets.

Agriculture remains the most important sector of the Cambodian economy in terms of its share of the gross domestic product (GDP), and it employs the vast majority of the workforce. Rice is Cambodia's major crop, its principal food and, in times of peace, its most important export commodity.

With her best effort, she can earn approximately USD 5 per day to pay for daily meals, clothes, medicine, and other necessary things.

At the moment, Eng's house is under construction and she needs more materials to finish it. Due to a shortage of her money, she requested a loan, which she will use to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house. With the loan, she can purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to cover the lack of a roof and to pay labor costs.

She hopes that through the help of the loan she can provide everyone in her family with a suitable place to live and comfortable living conditions. She aims to purchase more land for agricultural purposes and open a small grocery store to earn additional income.

She sends her thanks to all lenders for helping her family. She takes a photograph with her husband.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to clean, renewable energy sources, like solar and biogas.
