A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also mulberry for her tapa making.

'Ofa's story

'Ofa is a 49-year-old widow with four children. She and her children live in their own home, where she raises and provides for them with the earnings from her weaving and tapa making. She started her business long before her husband passed away, and even today, her business still manages to grow.

Having SPBD loans eases some of the financial problems not only with her business but also with her family. 'Ofa works together with a group of women in her village where, once a week, they perform tapa making and spend the rest of the weekdays weaving.

She sell her mats and tapas to local and overseas customers. She wants her children to grow up and have a good life and not feel fatherless. To educate them so they can have a better future is her top priority.
