A loan of $1,100 helped buying a new line of perfumes and cosmetics which her customers have ordered.

Mabel Aura's story

Mabel Aura Bozón is a very hard-working woman and the mother of just one daughter. She is currently 49 years old. Mabel sells general merchandise, especially beauty products and cosmetics, and she also has a small office with a transcription business operated by her daughter. She began her business with 500,000 COP, which her sister lent to her, and which through her hard work she was able to earn back. This has been very important for her, since because she has a business, the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation has granted her 2 loans, helping her to expand her working capital. With her loan from Kiva, Mabel will buy a new line of perfumes and cosmetics which her customers have ordered. Her customers include local workers, neighbors and family members, as well as people referred to her by her best clients. Mabel says that with her loans from this organization, her inventory has expanded and she has gained more customers along with a significant increase in sales. Her dream now is to move her business to a store in a shopping center, where she can display her merchandise more effectively, applying all of her knowledge of the art of exhibiting her products, and where she can reach a much more affluent group of potential customers.
