A loan helped to purchase fabrics.

Hawa's story

Hawa is 49 years old and lives with her husband and her four children. She is a well-known retailer of fabrics.

Hawa purchases fabric in Gambia or Mali to then sell in her area. She doesn't have a shop and doesn't store her merchandise because, as soon as it arrives, she distributes all of her fabric to her customers on credit that is paid monthly.

Hawa always chooses dyed damask fabrics of excellent quality, which is why she always receives numerous orders. She is requesting a Kiva loan of 600,000 CFA francs from Fansoto to balance [the quantity] she is able to offer [her customers] with the number of orders she receives. [With the loan,] she will purchase a large quantity of fabrics to meet demand for all of her [customers'] orders.

Hawa is an intrepid woman who contributes to her family's needs at the same level as her husband, [contributing to] things like her children's school fees, food, and other expenses. Hawa is very ambitious and plans to open a large clothing shop.
