Sope Serigne Fallou Group's story

The Sope Serigne Fallou solidarity group was created in June 2010 when the « Banc Villageois » loan group was dissolved. It consists of 11 women from the same village who got together through personal affinities and as neighbors. Mrs. Maty N. is responsible for the group: she is shown kneeling on the right of the picture, clothed in white with a white scarf on her head. She is 35 years old, married and the mother of six children. She is developing a small commercial business. She gets her merchandise from Touba in the Mbacke region of the Diourbel department. She resells at weekly area markets and door-to-door. Her new loan will enable her to buy larger quantities of perfume and incense. She assists her husband in taking care of their family, particularly concerning nutrition and health matters.
