Blessing Group's story

Elizabeth T., who is holding the sign, is the leader of this group of five borrowers called “Blessing”. She is 51 years old, is widowed, and has five children who range from 10 to 34 years old. She was only able to attend school through 8th grade due to poverty.

For ten years, Elizabeth has been selling rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour and pepper in Chicken Soup Market on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia.

Elizabeth plans to use her 25,000 Liberian dollar portion of this 65,000 Liberian dollar group loan to buy more bags of rice, cooking oil, sugar and flour. She describes herself as a determined woman.

Elizabeth’s dream is to improve her business, build a house, and continue to educate her children.
