A loan helped to purchase the necessary inputs for growing cabbage.

Roger's story

Roger is a 31-year-old man. He is married and has three children. The grandfather also lives with the family. They live an isolated rural village.

Roger is a farmer. He grows a variety of crops, but is most invested in growing cabbage, which he has been doing for nine years. His wife runs a stand selling milk and vegetables. The couple helps one another to cover food, schooling, and other family needs.

Roger joined Vahatra recently. He decided to take out loans to expand his cabbage farming. The family has arable land. Roger has decided to save money because he wants to build a house for his family. He acquired more land with the profits from his first loan. He was also able to start saving some cash, which he plans to increase.

He needs this next loan to purchase 6,000 cabbage seedlings, 100 kg of chemical fertilizer, 20 carts of manure, and phytosanitary products. He will also pay some men to help him with the labor. He hopes to have lenders' support. He sells his products to aggregators.
