A loan of $3,000 helped a member purchasing meat, chicken and food condiments.

Mere Theresa Group's story

The Mother Theresa solidarity group is part of the Banc Villageois of the Catholic Women’s association of the Louga parish. It has been created three years ago. It is composed of 11 women living in the same neighborhood and belonging to the same church community.

Mrs. Irène Kampla is the group leaders. She is on the far left in the photo. She is 53 years old, a widow, the mother of five children, with four other children also in her care. She prepares food for sale. Each evening she comes to the parish house of the Catholic mission of Louga in order to cook meat soup and grill meats for sale. She also prepares sandwiches and cooks chicken. With this loan, she would like to expand her stock of meat and chicken and to purchase more condiments. She has full responsibility for all family expenses, such as food, healthcare, clothing, school fees etc.
