Adalgiza's story

Adalgiza Pájaro M. lives in the city of Cartagena, Department of Bolívar. She has five children between the ages of 25 and 46. Adalgiza manages a sewing business and has plenty of experience since she has been engaged in this activity ever since she was a young woman. When she started this business, she produced all types of formal and casual clothing, uniforms, and other types of products. Since she was a single mother, her business enabled her to provide her five children with an education. Adalgiza says that Fundación Mario Santo Domingo was a great help in securing an education for her children because the loans allowed her to grow her business. Now her main goal is to open a store where she can sell her own brand of designs. Her business is currently located in southwestern Cartagena, where folk dances such as the rumba, cumbia, and porro enliven the most important Colombian festivals that take place every November. During this time, colorful indigenous arrangements adorn the walls that surround this great city.

This is her 27th loan. Adalgiza will buy a specialized sewing machine for making sweaters of high quality. She currently has to pay for these types of garments to be made, especially ones that contain Lycra.
