A loan of $1,000 helped pay workers to clear, plow, and remove weeds from his land.

Lucio's story

Sr. Lucio is not married, but he is in a relationship with his partner Sra. Isabel. They have two children who are of school age. He is a native of Vallegrande. Fifteen years ago, he joined the farmers’ union in Guaracal where he and his children work the land that he owns. They grow potatoes, corn, cassava, and rice and sell these products at the market in El Torno.

Lucio has been working two years with Emprender. During his free time, he works as an electrician and also has a house in the city of Santa Cruz. The money from this loan will be used to pay workers to prepare his land for planting using slash and burn techniques. They will also be responsible for plowing the land and removing weeds. Sr. Lucio is a hardworking individual who is very grateful to Emprender and Kiva for demonstrating their trust by providing this loan. In the photograph, Sr. Lucio is accompanied by his beloved partner.
