A loan helped to build a safe latrine at home.

Chantha's story

Chantha is a widowed woman who has been residing in the Kiri Vong district of Takeo Province. She is a mother of 11 children and seven of them are married already.

Chantha has been working in an agricultural business, which is the major source of the family’s income. She owns and manages a few hectares of farmland on which she can grow rice and vegetables, which she then sells each harvesting season. For a better income, Chantha devotes her spare time to raising some poultry at home. After three to four months of fattening, she sells them to local tradesmen or butchers them to earn a suitable income to support her family.

Currently, Chantha's house doesn't have a safe latrine, so she cannot provide a sanitary latrine for her family members. She is requesting a loan to build a safe latrine at home. In this way, she hopes to increase the value of her home and improve their sanitation, ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment. With the support of this loan, Chantha will be able to purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to build a safe latrine and pay for labor costs.

She believes that through her hard work and perseverance, she will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.
