A loan of $975 helped pay for her son's seventh semester of university.

Norbertina's story

Norbertina H. H. has always been very enterprising. With great effort, her parents managed to provide her with a primary school education. She continued on to complete high school and start a career as an office technician. This experience taught her the importance of education and now she channels all of her efforts into providing a college education for her son. She is very happy with her previous loan from Kiva and says that it was used entirely for her son so that he can finish his university degree in accounting. Norbertina has already repaid this loan as her son competed the semester. Now that he is starting his seventh semester, she is requesting a new loan in the amount of 1,774,500 COP in order to pay for it.

Norbertina has a business selling merchandise. Her first loan from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo was issued in 1994 in the amount of 110,000 COP. Since then she has taken 25 more individual loans to use as operating capital. She continues with her goal of becoming a wholesale distributor and with her microenterprise, she wants to generate sufficient income to maintain her household and provide the best possible conditions. To learn more about Norbertina’s story, details can be found from her previous Kiva loan.
