A loan of $4,725 helped a member increase the quantity of food products she buys to resell to her customers.

Twige Group's story

Aline C. is a 33-year old trader, who lives in the municipality of Rugombo in the province of Cibitoke in the west of Burundi. For the past two years she has been selling food produce: vegetables such as egg plants, onions and cassava, at the market in Rugombo, and she sometimes provides supplies to the central market in Bujumbura. She went to primary school up until sixth grade and she is divorced. She is taking out a seventh community loan from Turame.

She is mother to six children aged 13, ten, nine, and seven years old, as well as twins of three years old. The four eldest children are at school.

She is asking for a Kiva loan in order to increase the quantity of food products she buys to resell to her customers. With the profit she generates from this loan, she is hoping in the future to be in a position to buy a piece of land in order to build her own house and to provide for her various needs.

She is a member of the "Twige" community group.
