A loan helped to buy more rice, oil, pepper and other items to sell.

Matenneh's story

Matenneh, 40 years old, is from Monrovia region. She is a married mother with seven children, six of whom are still schooling. All live at home.

Matenneh runs a retail business selling rice, oil, pepper and other items. She has had this enterprise for eight years and has no problems with it. She started to sell with some earnings from her husband, and her mother taught her how to sell.

In order to continue her sales, Matenneh has asked for a loan to enable her to buy more rice, oil, pepper and other items to sell to her good clients.

Matenneh's dream for the future is to continue to send her children to school. She says thanks to lenders.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
