A loan helped to buy cereals that she plans to resell so that she can make more profit to support her family.

Zipporah's story

Zipporah is a mother who is not afraid of failure. She has three children and lives in Kenyenya, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain, dairy, and horticultural farming. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past 10 years, enabling her to support her family.

Zipporah is seeking this loan to buy cereals that she plans to resell so that she can make more profit to support her family. Unlike banks and other local money lenders who operate mainly in urban centers, Juhudi Kilimo (a Kiva field partner) has extended its operations to the most remote areas of Kenya, creating opportunities for different people to access loans. Zipporah is hopeful that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
