Guillermo's Group's story

Guillermo O. is from the village of La Salette. He is the leader of an 11-member group loan offered by Kiva partner, ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is La Salette.

Guillermo is 46 years old and married. To make a living, he owns and operates a business venture in the agriculture sector planting and harvesting rice for sale. Guillermo has been engaged in his business for over 20 years and earns approximately 7,000 PHP per month from these activities.

In 2010, Guillermo joined Kiva partner, ASKI, to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and ability to engage in business activities. He is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase fertilizers such as manure. This loan will be his first from ASKI. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand his business.
