A loan helped to buy farming inputs to improve production and make more income to support her family.

Marycent's story

Marycent is a 34-year-old mother of four children living in Chuka, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is a mixed farmer with ten years of farming experience. Thanks to her passion and work commitment, she has given her family good reputation.

Marycent is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs to improve her production and make more income to support her family. Unlike banks and other local money lenders who operate mainly in urban centres, Juhudi Kilimo, a field partner of Kiva, has extended its operations to the most remote areas of Kenya, creating opportunities for different people to access loans. Marycent needs financial support to make the upcoming festive season happy for her family.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
