A loan of $1,025 helped to pay her eldest son's school fees.

Clémentine's story

Clémentine N. is a 45-year old woman. She has a husband and seven children, and she was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She went to primary school only but can read and write Kinyarwanda (the language spoken in Rwanda). She gave birth to four children, the eldest being 28 years old and the youngest seven years old; all her children attend school.

This family make their living from business. Her husband is an emplyee while Clémentine has a charcoal selling business. She has been a customer of Amasezerano Community Banking since 2010, and she is taking out a loan from this institution to pay the fees for her eldest son's second term at university. Thanks to her savings, she has been able to pay the school fees for her children who are secondary school and to finish the renovation of their house. She would like to get a new house in the future, and the savings she makes from her profits will allow her to continue paying her children's school fees until they have finished their studies.
