A loan helped to purchase 160 kilos of kava to stock up her rental shed to better provide for her customers.

Josina's story

Josina is a 37 year old mother of two. Her children are ages 15 and 14 and are both attending college. She has her partner who is unemployed but a very supportive hand. Josina lives with her partner in a small home unit located in the largest residential area in Port Vila city. Her community relies a lot on the food industry as means of income. Having two local schools located there has been a great advantage.

Josina has requested a loan to help her pay for 160 kilos of kava which she will store in a rental shed so she can sell to her valuable customers. She has her partner also producing kava juice for other customers that consume kava in the evenings. Making business with kava has been good. With the revenue earned she will save up so she can purchase a piece of land for her family and to help grow her business. Josina started her kava juice back in 2016. It has supported her family financially in so many ways. She has expanded to selling green kava in early 2020.

South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd has aided Josina for over a year now, and this is her second loan. She successfully repaid her first loan on time. As her business is slowly expanding, Josina feels empowered to continue to grow and become a successful businesswoman.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
