A loan of $400 helped buy a bull cart.

Mariam's story

My name is Mariam B. and I am a widow with six children. I make jewelry tassels for $60 a month. My children had to quit their studies due to the financial repercussions that took place after their father’s death. They were forced to do menial jobs for meager wages.

A couple of years ago, one of my sons bought a bull cart by taking out a loan from ASASAH, a microfinance institution. He obtains orders from various wholesalers to transport goods from one place to another on his bull cart. The income from this business is just enough to feed and clothe the family members. This year he plans to buy another bull cart to increase the income. He will put aside money with this extra income for his sisters’ weddings. Please lend us US$ 400 to purchase a bull cart.
