A loan of $600 helped buying seeds and compost to grow corn.

Gladys Severa's story

Gladys Severa M. M. is 35 years old. She lives with her common-law husband in the canton of Ventanas, in Los Ríos province. She has 7 children, ranging from age 9 to 17. Gladys is a member of the Recinto San Ramón communal bank, which is located in Nuevo San Ramón, 12 kilometers from Ventanas. The group has a total of 20 members, who work in short-cycle agriculture (with harvests after 6 months). This is their first loan with the Cooperative. Gladys works within the home and also supports her husband in agricultural work, growing corn and rice. They sell their crops in Ventanas every 6 months. She is requesting the loan to buy seeds and compost to grow corn. She believes that this loan will help her earn money to invest. Her dream is to pay for her children's studies and buy them what they need. She has battled pests and locusts in her crops. She likes to spend her free time with her children. She is shown with her husband in the photo.
