A loan helped to expand her business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Florence's story

Florence is a 20-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her parents in Luwingu district in Zambia. She sells tomatoes, onions, groundnuts, beans and other vegetables. With her first Kiva loan, she replenished her inventory, which increased her sales and now her business is thriving.

Florence is requesting a second loan to expand her business by purchasing more vegetables in bulk to meet her customers' needs. She plans to use the profit she earns to pay her sister’s school fees and invest in her community.

Florence will repay the “social interest” on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Alumnae Executive, focusing on the formation and strengthening of the CAMFED Association in various locations and institutions, and leading CAMFED activities that give back to the community.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
